Indo Defence 2025: Southeast Asia’s biggest defence expo goes deal-first in Jakarta

Indo Defence 2025 (Jakarta): Jakarta turns into a defense super-market

Indo Defence 2025 (June 11–14, JIExpo) mixed big-tent pavilions with pragmatic buys—from counter-UAS and EW to shipyard upgrades and local industry offsets.

Indonesia’s flagship tri-service show packed JIExpo Kemayoran 11–14 June, opened by President Prabowo Subianto, and closed with a clutch of signed local defense contracts—evidence that this isn’t just a parade; it’s procurement. The floor skewed toward air defence layers, counter-UAS, ISR, naval upgrades, and EW test gear—practical kits for a crowded maritime neighborhood.

Three things to know

  • Real orders, not just MoUs
Officials touted 17 domestic cooperation contracts at close—small to mid-scale but operationally relevant. That contrasts with some shows where MoUs evaporate post-event.
  • Counter-drone goes mobile
A locally built anti-drone/jamming vehicle drew steady traffic, signaling how ASEAN buyers want maneuverable C-UAS with spectrum agility rather than fixed emplacements.
  • Turkey’s deep bench
Türkiye fielded the largest foreign cohort (29 firms), reinforcing the country’s aggressive push into the region across drones, armour, and comms.

Why it matters
With budgets rising and timelines compressing, Southeast Asia is shifting from showroom to shop floor. Indo Defence’s blend—pavilions + signatures—suggests Jakarta is where you bring kit that works now, not “next cycle.”
